The FF901 Carbon shares the FF901 model number with the ABS Solid version but diverges on three key points: the shell is woven carbon fibre rather than injection-moulded ABS, the chin strap uses a double D-ring rather than a back closure, and the design is graphic rather than solid. No 180° backflip chin bar; no Pinlock insert listed. Sizes cover L to XXXL only — no M, no 4XL. ECE approved, one-year warranty, 40×30×31cm package at 3.5kg gross.
- Carbon delamination is invisible — replace after any crash regardless of appearance: ABS shows surface cracks; carbon fibre may show nothing. A significant impact can separate fibre layers from the epoxy matrix internally while the graphic surface looks undamaged. Tap the crown and forehead — a hollow sound or unexpected flex compared to the rest of the shell is a delamination indicator. When in doubt, replace before riding again. The one-year warranty covers manufacturing defects only; crash-related damage is not covered.
- Confirm Pinlock compatibility before cold riding — the Solid version has it, this one may not: The FF901 Solid ships with Pinlock Max. The FF901 Carbon does not list a Pinlock insert. Ask the seller whether the outer lens has mounting pins before purchasing for winter use. If pins are present, a separately purchased Pinlock insert resolves the anti-fog gap. If absent, apply anti-fog spray to the inner face of the outer clear lens before cold rides.
- No interior fit adjustment — measure precisely, size to the middle of the band: The D-ring provides no shell-level fit adjustment (unlike the back closure in the Solid). The shell must fit the skull at purchase. Measure above the eyebrows, over the ears, and around the occipital protrusion three times; use the largest reading. Choose the size where your measurement falls in the middle of the band — not at the upper boundary where the shell will feel loose as the cotton lining compresses with use.
- UV-protective polish every 3–4 months — store away from direct sun: The graphic clear coat at the crown degrades under UV before any other surface. Apply UV-protective helmet wax or polish quarterly; store the helmet indoors or in a bag rather than in a sun-exposed vehicle boot. Once yellowing is visible the clear coat cannot be restored by polishing — protecting it before visible degradation begins is the only effective approach.
Measure head circumference above the eyebrows, over the ears, and around the occipital protrusion at the rear. Take three measurements, use the largest. No back closure means no shell-level adjustment — size to the middle of the band, not the upper boundary. No M or 4XL available.
