The LY-2019 is built around three features that separate it from standard riding pants: full-length side zippers that open both legs completely for on/off without removing boots, a 6000mm waterproof rating across the built-in membrane, and a 180g thickened cotton thermal lining that goes beyond the thin liners typically found at this price point. CE Level 2 knee and hip protectors — testing to half the force-transmission ceiling of Level 1 — are included across sizes M to 5XL.
- Use the side length column — not inseam — for length sizing: The chart shows side length (outer seam, hip to ankle): 108cm (M) to 118cm (5XL). Measure your own side length from hip bone to floor. If waist, hip, and side length suggest different sizes, prioritise hip for protector pocket alignment, then confirm side length is within 2–3cm of your measurement. 1–3cm length variance is noted in the manual measurement disclaimer.
- Size to hip — check both waist columns for base-layer fit: The chart provides both a natural waistline and a stretch waist. If you plan to wear a thermal base layer beneath the LY-2019, use the stretch column to confirm the waistband can accommodate the combined bulk. If hip and waistline suggest different sizes, choose hip — protector pocket position is governed by hip measurement, not waist.
- Lubricate the side zippers before winter use and every 4–6 weeks: Full-length zippers operating in road salt and grit bind progressively without lubrication. Apply wax-based zipper lubricant or PTFE spray to both side zippers before the season and at regular intervals during sustained winter use. A zipper that binds mid-leg in cold conditions with gloves on cannot be safely forced without damaging the slider — preventative lubrication costs seconds and prevents a disabling field failure.
- Confirm protector position in riding posture before the first ride: CE Level 2's half-force-transmission standard only applies at the anatomical zone the protector covers. Sit on the motorcycle and confirm the knee pad is centred over the kneecap and the hip pad covers the outer hip prominence. Adjust waistband height until both align — both pockets move together with the pants, so one adjustment corrects both zones simultaneously.
Provide height, weight, waist, and hip measurements when ordering. Two waist measurements are provided — natural waistline and maximum elastic stretch. If sizing for use with a base layer, use the stretch column. Priority sizing axis is hip. Side length is the outer seam measurement; measure from hip bone to floor and match directly. Allow 1–3cm measurement variance.
