TKNE KP3
Waterproof Winter
Riding Gloves

FAN-TEX Membrane · 3M Cotton Lining · Carbon Fiber Defense · Anti-Vibration Palm · Touchscreen · All-Season

The KP3 layers four distinct technologies into a single glove: a FAN-TEX waterproof membrane that blocks water ingress at the shell, a 3M sherry cotton and warm velvet inner lining for heat retention, carbon fiber knuckle casing for impact resistance, and a Volar palm suspension layer that absorbs handlebar vibration before it reaches the hand. Touchscreen-compatible fingertips, full finger coverage, and a polyurethane-coated leather outer complete the construction across sizes XS to 2XL.

WATERPROOF
FAN-TEX Waterproof Membrane

A dedicated waterproof membrane laminated between the leather outer and the inner lining. FAN-TEX blocks water ingress at the shell while allowing water vapour from the hand to escape outward — preventing both soaking and internal condensation build-up during sustained wet riding.

INSULATION
3M Sherry Cotton + Warm Velvet Lining

3M sherry cotton is a heat-storage insulation material — it traps warm air in its fibre structure rather than simply adding bulk. The warm velvet contact layer faces the hand directly, providing a soft surface that doesn't abrade the skin during extended wearing. Together they create a two-layer thermal system inside the waterproof shell.

IMPACT
Carbon Fiber Knuckle Casing

Hard carbon fiber panels over the knuckle and finger-back zones provide a rigid impact barrier between the hand and road, handlebar, or debris. Carbon fiber's high stiffness-to-weight ratio gives fall-resistant protection without the bulk of traditional hard-shell motorcycle glove armour at equivalent coverage areas.

VIBRATION
Volar Palm Anti-Vibration Suspension

A suspension layer in the palm area absorbs and dissipates handlebar vibration before it transmits to the hand. On long rides, sustained vibration causes progressive hand fatigue and numbness that reduces grip strength and throttle sensitivity — the Volar suspension layer addresses the cumulative effect rather than only peak impact events.

Material & Feature Performance
🧤
Leather + PU Outer Shell
The leather outer provides abrasion resistance at the hand's contact surfaces in a slide. Polyurethane coating on the leather surface adds scuff resistance against repeated contact with the bike, gear lever, and handlebar hardware — protecting the leather's structural integrity without adding significant weight or stiffness to the glove body.
🌡️
All-Season Temperature Range
The combination of FAN-TEX membrane (blocks rain), 3M cotton insulation (retains heat), and velvet lining (comfort at low temperature) makes the KP3 suited to cold and wet conditions. In summer above 25°C, the insulation may trap excess body heat — the all-season rating reflects the construction's cold-weather emphasis, with usable performance across spring and autumn as well.
📱
Touchscreen-Compatible Fingertips
Conductive material at the index and thumb fingertips allows capacitive touchscreen response — navigation inputs, call acceptance, and toll payment without removing the glove. The conductive zones cover only these two fingertips; the palm and remaining fingers are standard leather and will not trigger screen inputs from handlebar contact.
💪
Full Finger Coverage
Full finger construction encloses each finger individually from tip to base — unlike half-finger or cut-finger designs that leave the proximal finger zones exposed. In a slide, the fingers are among the first surfaces to contact the road; full enclosure keeps leather (not skin) in contact with the abrasive surface across the complete hand.
📐
Dual-Axis Sizing Chart
The size chart provides both palm breadth (width across the back of the hand) and palm girth (circumference around the palm) — two measurements because hand proportions vary. A rider with a wide but shallow hand may find circumference and breadth suggest different sizes; the chart allows both to be checked. A sports shoe size reference row is also provided as a secondary crosscheck.
🔒
Flexible Construction + Wrist Closure
The glove body uses flexible materials at the finger joints and palm to allow natural hand curvature around the handlebar without resistance — stiff-fingered gloves create fatigue by forcing the hand to work against the glove during grip. The wrist closure secures the cuff against wind ingress at the jacket interface, which is the primary cold-air entry point once all finger zones are sealed.
Key Highlights
No. 1
Four-Layer Construction Logic
The KP3 stacks four independent systems: leather + PU (abrasion and scuff), FAN-TEX membrane (water block), 3M cotton + velvet (heat retention), and Volar palm suspension (vibration damping). Each layer addresses a different failure mode — no single layer substitutes for another. A waterproof membrane without insulation keeps the hand dry but cold; insulation without waterproofing becomes wet and loses thermal performance. The stack is cumulative.
No. 2
Vibration Fatigue vs Impact Events
The Volar palm suspension and carbon fiber casing address two different injury mechanisms. Carbon fiber handles acute impact — a single high-force event such as a fall. The Volar suspension handles chronic vibration — low-amplitude, high-frequency energy transmitted through the handlebar continuously during riding. Numbness and grip-strength loss from vibration typically develop over 30–60 minutes; the suspension layer's effectiveness is measured over ride duration, not at a single moment.
No. 3
Waterproof Membrane Scope
The FAN-TEX membrane waterproofs the glove body — the leather outer, membrane, and lining layers between them. The wrist cuff closure and any seams at the thumb gusset are the two secondary ingress points in wet conditions. Confirm the wrist closure is fully closed before riding in rain; an open wrist cuff channels water directly to the membrane's edge, bypassing its protective surface and entering the lining from the cuff inward.
No. 4
Palm Breadth vs Palm Girth — Use Both
Palm breadth measures across the back of the hand (flat dimension); palm girth measures around the palm's circumference. Some hands are wide but not particularly round — a paddler's hand, for example — while others are round but narrow. If your breadth and girth measurements land in different size columns, choose the larger of the two sizes. The sports shoe reference row is a secondary check, not a primary sizing input.
No. 5
Wrist Cuff Fit at the Jacket Interface
For the waterproof and thermal performance to work as designed, the glove cuff must seal against the jacket sleeve — overlapping the sleeve by at least 3–4cm and confirming the closure holds when the arm is extended to the handlebar. A cuff that gaps at the wrist allows cold air and rain to enter at the top of the membrane's edge, which is not waterproof from the inside outward. Tuck the glove cuff under the jacket sleeve in heavy rain for additional coverage.
No. 6
Gross Weight 1.00kg Includes Packaging
The 1.00kg stated gross weight is the packaged weight including box and materials — the gloves themselves are significantly lighter. The four-layer construction adds more mass than a single-layer summer glove, but the thermal and protective systems it carries justify the additional weight for cold-season riding where unprotected hands fail within minutes of exposure rather than hours.
Construction Zone Detail
01
Leather + PU Outer
The polyurethane coating bonds to the leather surface as a thin protective film — it does not add structural stiffness but resists the surface scuffing from repeated contact with metal hardware, levers, and zip pulls that progressively degrades untreated leather. PU-coated leather can be wiped clean with a damp cloth; do not use solvent-based cleaners, which dissolve the coating and expose the raw leather beneath.
02
FAN-TEX Membrane Layer
The membrane is laminated between the outer leather and inner lining — it cannot be seen or touched in normal use. Its effectiveness depends on the integrity of the seams above it; seam-sealed construction ensures water cannot enter through stitch holes at the membrane boundary. If the glove develops water ingress in heavy rain, inspect the thumb gusset seam and wrist cuff edge first, as these are the two most stressed seam zones.
03
3M Cotton Insulation Layer
3M sherry cotton sits between the FAN-TEX membrane and the velvet contact layer — its heat-trapping function depends on the fibre structure remaining lofted and uncompressed. Storing the gloves compressed flat (for example, under heavy items) over extended periods can permanently mat the insulation, reducing its effective thickness and thermal performance. Store upright or loosely folded to preserve loft.
04
Carbon Fiber Knuckle Panel
The carbon fiber casing covers the metacarpal knuckle line and the proximal finger backs — the zones that contact road surface in a forward slide where the hand is outstretched. The panel must be inspected after any high-force contact; carbon fiber can delaminate internally from impact without visible cracking on the surface, reducing subsequent protection at that zone.
05
Volar Palm Suspension
The Volar suspension pad occupies the palm contact zone — the hypothenar eminence (heel of the hand) and the thenar eminence (thumb base) where grip pressure concentrates on the handlebar. These zones receive the most direct vibration transmission from the bar through the grip. The pad's viscoelastic material converts vibration energy to heat rather than transmitting it to the carpal tunnel, where sustained vibration causes median nerve compression and hand-arm vibration syndrome over time.
06
Touchscreen Fingertip Zones
Conductive thread is integrated at the index finger and thumb tip panels. Thread continuity is what allows the fingertip to complete the capacitive circuit — if repeated bending at the fingertip fractures the thread fibres, touchscreen response becomes unreliable at that digit. This is a wear item; if one fingertip stops responding to screens while the glove otherwise functions normally, the conductive thread at that tip has likely fatigued and the glove should be replaced if this function is required.

  • Take both measurements — breadth AND girth: Palm breadth (across the back of the hand at its widest) and palm girth (circumference around the palm excluding thumb) can suggest different sizes on the same hand. Measure both, then use the larger resulting size. The sports shoe reference in the chart is a rough crosscheck only — base your selection on the measured dimensions.
  • Seal the wrist cuff before riding in rain: The FAN-TEX membrane waterproofs the glove body, but an open wrist cuff creates a direct water channel to the membrane's upper edge. Close the cuff fully and confirm it holds when the arm is extended to the handlebar. In heavy rain, tucking the glove cuff under the jacket sleeve provides a second layer of coverage at this junction.
  • Store loosely — do not compress the 3M cotton lining: The insulation's thermal performance depends on the fibre structure remaining lofted. Storing the gloves compressed under heavy items over extended periods mats the cotton fibres permanently, reducing the effective insulation thickness. Store upright or loosely paired to preserve loft between uses.
  • Inspect the carbon fiber panel after any impact: Carbon fiber can delaminate internally from a significant impact without showing visible surface cracking. After any fall or high-force contact at the knuckle zone, press the panel firmly — a panel that flexes or crackles where it was previously rigid has likely delaminated and should be replaced before the next ride.
