The VJ-037 is VEMAR's summer mesh jacket built on a three-fabric construction: 100% Polyester Oxford outer shell at structural and reinforcement panels, 100% Polyester open-weave mesh at the chest, back, and sleeve ventilation zones, and a 92% Nylon / 8% Spandex climbing cloth flex layer. CE-1 Grade TPE 3D honeycomb pads at shoulders and elbows; lightweight EVA back protector; 600D Oxford reinforcement at pad pockets to keep protectors correctly positioned. Reversible design, anti-UV coating, arm reflective strips. 1.35kg, S to 4XL.
- CE-1 Grade TPE 3D honeycomb — what it means for the limb pads: The shoulder and elbow pads use TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) in a 3D honeycomb cell structure — the cells compress under impact to absorb energy, then recover their shape for repeated use. CE Level 1 is the baseline European standard for limb protectors (EN 1621-1) — it requires the pad to transmit no more than 35kN average force under test impact. TPE honeycomb meets this standard without the foam degradation of traditional foam pads over time.
- EVA back pad vs CE-certified back protector — understand the difference: The VJ-037 includes a lightweight EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) back pad — a foam insert that provides cushioning at the spine. EVA back pads are not listed as CE-certified to EN 1621-2 (back protector standard) in this product's specification. EVA foam provides comfort padding and mild impact absorption, but if CE-certified back protection is required, confirm the certification status with the seller or replace the included pad with a separately purchased CE Level 1 or Level 2 back protector of the same form factor.
- 600D Oxford reinforcement at pad pockets — why placement matters: The Oxford fabric patches at the shoulder and elbow pad zones serve two functions: additional abrasion resistance at the highest road-contact zones, and structural stiffness that holds the pad pocket in correct anatomical position. A soft mesh pocket flexes and allows the pad to migrate during riding — a reinforced Oxford pocket maintains the pad's alignment over the joint it is designed to protect. Confirm pad alignment in riding posture after the first fitting.
- Reversible design — practical use: The VJ-037's reversible construction means the jacket can be worn with either face outward, giving two different visual presentations from a single garment. The reflective strips and Oxford reinforcement zones are on the outer face — wearing the jacket reversed places the inner mesh lining as the exterior, which reduces the abrasion resistance and removes the reflective elements from the riding position. Ride with the Oxford-face outward to maintain abrasion resistance and reflective visibility; use the reversed orientation for casual non-riding use.
- Sleeve and back length plateau at 3XL/4XL — check before ordering: The size chart shows sleeve length stops scaling at 67cm at 3XL and remains 67cm at 4XL. Back length also plateaus at 78cm from 3XL onward. Tall riders at 4XL should measure their sleeve length (wrist to shoulder seam) and back length and compare against these figures before ordering — if your measurements exceed the chart's plateau values, the jacket will be shorter in these dimensions than expected for that chest size.
