The EY-03 is EiZ's CE Level 2 certified winter riding trouser — independently tested to EN 1621-1 2012 across high-temperature, normal-temperature, humidity, and low-temperature conditions, rated K.E.S. Type A at Level 2. Quick-release side zippers allow full on/off without boot removal, the Oxford outer shell provides windproof and waterproof performance, and retroreflective strips improve low-light visibility. CE Level 2 knee protectors are included across sizes M to 5XL. At 1.15kg packaged, the pants themselves are considerably lighter.
The EY-03's knee protectors have been independently tested to EN 1621-1 2012 — the European standard for motorcycle limb protectors — across four environmental conditions: high temperature, normal temperature, humidity, and low temperature. This multi-condition testing confirms performance is not limited to one climate scenario. The protectors are rated K.E.S. Type A (Knee) at Level 2, which requires maximum transmitted force below 20 kN at the specified test impact energy.
- CE Level 2 knee only — no hip protectors in this package: The EY-03 includes knee protectors only. If hip protection is a requirement, confirm whether the pants have hip pockets accepting aftermarket pads before purchasing — or consider a model that ships with hip protectors included. The knee certification (EN 1621-1 2012, K.E.S. Type A, Level 2) is complete and multi-condition tested; hip coverage is simply not part of this product's specification.
- Size to your hip — thigh is a flat measurement, double it to check: The chart's thigh figures (34–40cm) are flat; actual circumference is double. If hip and thigh suggest different sizes, choose the larger. If front rise and back rise figures concern you — particularly if riding trousers typically pull down at the rear — measure your own back rise (sit on a hard chair, measure from waistband to seat) and compare directly against the chart column for your hip size.
- Wash cold, tumble dry low — restore DWR with the heat cycle: The DWR waterproof treatment on the Oxford outer requires heat to reactivate after washing. Cold wash, gentle cycle, no fabric softener — then 20 minutes on low heat in the tumble dryer. If the outer fabric is wetting out (water spreading rather than beading) after washing and air drying, the missing step is the low-heat dry cycle that re-bonds the DWR to the fibre surface.
- Confirm knee pad is centred over the patella in riding posture: The EN 1621-1 K.E.S. Type A certification applies to coverage of the knee joint. Sit on the motorcycle and confirm the pad centre aligns with the kneecap — not the lower thigh or upper shin. If the pad sits above the patella in riding posture, the waistband is too high; if below, too low. Adjust waistband height until the pocket centres over the patella, then confirm the fit holds through a full knee flex-extension cycle before riding.
Provide height, weight, waist, and hip measurements when ordering. Size priority: hip for protector pocket alignment; thigh as a secondary check (flat measurement — double for circumference). Front and back rise columns are provided if trouser pull-down is a recurring fit issue. Pants length increases 2cm per size across the full range.
