Lane ProMotor™
CE Aramid Protective
Motorcycle Hoodie

Aramid Fibre Reinforced · CE Armor Pockets · 220–320 GSM Fleece · Mesh Lining · Wind-Resistant · S–6XL

The Lane ProMotor™ hoodie layers real motorcycle protection under a standard pullover silhouette: aramid fibre panels bonded into the elbow, shoulder, and back zones for abrasion resistance where a fall would first contact the road; dedicated internal pockets for CE standard elbow, shoulder, and back protectors so riders can specify their own protection level; and a 220–320 GSM cotton fleece outer that looks and handles exactly like a regular hoodie from the outside. Breathable mesh lining, wind-resistant construction, elasticated cuffs, and a riding-fit cut across nine sizes from S to 6XL complete the package.

Armor & Protection System
Three-Layer Protection Stack
Aramid fibre impact panels — para-aramid fibre (the same material class as Kevlar) is bonded into the elbow, shoulder, and back zones inside the fleece body. Aramid resists progressive abrasion in a road slide — the fibre structure does not cut through the way cotton alone would. The aramid layer is permanent and does not require user installation. Its function is abrasion resistance at the surface; it is not a foam impact absorber.
CE armor pockets — separate sewn pockets at the elbow, shoulder, and back zones accept CE standard protector inserts. The pockets are empty at delivery — the rider sources and installs CE Level 1 or Level 2 protectors separately. CE protectors add energy-absorbing foam to the aramid abrasion layer, creating a two-system impact response: aramid manages the slide, CE foam manages the initial impact deceleration force.
220–320 GSM cotton fleece outer — the fleece weight range indicates the jacket is produced across a GSM range, with heavier weight versions providing more cold-weather insulation. The fleece outer faces the road in a fall — its abrasion resistance is supplemented by the aramid layer beneath it. Cotton fleece alone provides minimal slide protection; the aramid reinforcement is what makes this a riding garment rather than a standard hoodie.
CE armor not included — the hoodie ships without CE protectors. Riders must purchase compatible elbow, shoulder, and back CE inserts separately to complete the impact protection system. The aramid fibre panels are present and functional from delivery; the CE armor pockets add optional foam impact absorption when protectors are installed.
Feature Performance
🧵
Aramid vs Cotton — What the Reinforcement Does
Cotton fleece alone abrades and tears rapidly in a road slide — the fibres separate quickly at friction contact. Para-aramid fibre has a tensile strength approximately 5× higher than steel at equivalent weight; it resists progressive cutting that would expose the rider's skin during a slide. The aramid panels are placed at the three zones that contact the road first: elbows (outstretched reflex), shoulders (initial contact in most falls), and back (contact in rear impact or spin-out events).
🏅
CE Armor Pockets — Rider-Configured Protection
The pockets are sized for standard CE protector dimensions — riders select their preferred protection level (Level 1 or Level 2) and install protectors from any compatible CE-certified manufacturer. This allows the rider to match the protector specification to their riding style: commuters may install Level 1; track-day riders may install Level 2. The pocket positions are fixed; confirm that your chosen CE protectors' dimensions match the pocket dimensions with the seller before purchasing inserts separately.
🌡️
220–320 GSM Cotton Fleece — Seasonal Range
220 GSM is a mid-weight fleece comfortable in spring and autumn — sufficient insulation for 10–18°C. 320 GSM is a heavyweight fleece suited to winter riding at 0–10°C. The GSM range in the specification indicates the hoodie is available or produced across this weight band — confirm the specific GSM for your order with the seller, as the insulation and warmth profile differ meaningfully between the two ends of the range.
💨
Breathable Mesh + Wind-Resistant Fleece
The breathable mesh lining faces the rider's base layer — it allows moisture vapour from the skin to pass outward rather than accumulating against the body during exertion. The cotton fleece outer is wind-resistant by virtue of its weave density, reducing but not eliminating wind penetration at riding speed. The combination provides natural airflow management in warm weather and wind reduction in cold weather without requiring an active ventilation system or a sealed membrane.
🔩
Riding-Fit Cut + Elasticated Cuffs
The riding-fit cut accounts for the forward arm extension position on a motorcycle handlebar — the sleeves are cut longer and the back panel higher than a standard hoodie to prevent the back hemline rising above the waistband and the sleeves retreating up the forearm in riding posture. Elasticated cuffs seal the wrist gap between sleeve end and glove cuff, preventing wind channelling up the inner forearm at speed — a comfort issue that is minor on slow urban rides but significant on sustained highway riding.
📏
Nine Sizes — S to 6XL
The size range from S to 6XL across nine steps is broader than most motorcycle jackets, which typically cap at 4XL or 5XL. For riders at 5XL and 6XL, confirmed CE armoured options in this size range are uncommon at non-specialist price points — the Lane ProMotor™'s availability at these sizes is a specific advantage. The riding-fit cut at large sizes is designed for torso dimensions typical of the size, not a scaled-up standard hoodie pattern; confirm the shoulder width and back length against the size chart before ordering at the upper end.
Key Highlights
No. 1
CE Armor Not Included — What This Means
The aramid fibre panels are present and functional from delivery — they provide abrasion resistance without any additional purchase. The CE armor pockets are the optional upgrade layer. Purchasing CE elbow, shoulder, and back protectors separately and installing them into the pockets adds foam impact absorption to the existing aramid abrasion resistance. The hoodie is not incomplete without CE inserts — it is a multi-stage system where the aramid layer is the baseline and CE foam is an optional addition.
No. 2
Aramid Abrasion vs CE Impact — Different Functions
Aramid fibre and CE foam protectors address two different injury mechanisms. Aramid resists the progressive abrasion of the skin against a road surface during a slide — it keeps the outer layer intact so skin does not contact tarmac. CE foam protectors absorb the deceleration energy at the moment of initial impact — they compress to distribute force before transmitting it to the body. Both systems are needed for complete protection: aramid alone does not manage impact force; CE foam alone does not manage abrasion.
No. 3
Riding-Fit vs Standard Hoodie Fit
A standard hoodie cut does not accommodate the riding posture — the back hemline rises above the waistband, the sleeves shorten as the arms extend forward, and the shoulder seam pulls backward away from the shoulder cap. The riding-fit cut on the Lane ProMotor™ pre-positions the fabric for arm extension: longer sleeves, higher back panel, and shoulder seams positioned forward of the standard garment. If the product is sized as a standard hoodie for streetwear use, the riding-fit cut will feel slightly long in the sleeves and high in the back when standing — this is correct for riding posture.
No. 4
Confirm GSM for Your Riding Season
The 220–320 GSM range spans meaningfully different thermal profiles. At 220 GSM the fleece is a lightweight mid-layer suitable for spring and autumn — not a winter garment without additional base layers. At 320 GSM it is a heavyweight winter hoodie that may be too warm for regular summer riding above 18°C. Ask the seller to confirm the specific GSM of the hoodie you are ordering — not just that the range is 220–320 — so you can accurately assess whether it matches your riding season.
No. 5
Armor Pocket Alignment in Riding Posture
The CE armor pockets must position the installed protectors over the correct anatomical zones in riding position, not standing position. After fitting and installing CE inserts, sit in riding posture with arms forward on an imaginary handlebar and confirm the elbow pad is centred over the olecranon, the shoulder pad over the deltoid cap, and the back pad flat against the spine from shoulder blade level downward. The protectors protect only the anatomy they cover — misalignment in riding posture reduces protection even with Level 2 inserts installed.
No. 6
Size Up for Layering or Relaxed Fit
The riding-fit cut is designed to be worn with minimal layering — a thin base layer underneath. If you typically wear a thermal mid-layer beneath a riding jacket in winter, size up one size to maintain the correct sleeve length and shoulder position over the extra bulk. A tight fit that compresses the mesh lining against the body also reduces its breathability — the air gap between lining and skin that allows moisture transport is eliminated by a compression fit.
Construction Zone Detail
01
Aramid Panel Coverage and Inspection
The aramid panels are bonded or sewn inside the fleece body at the elbow, shoulder, and back zones — they are not visible from the outside. After any significant road contact (a fall, a scrape), the aramid panels should be inspected by turning the garment inside out and examining the panel's bonding at its edges. Aramid fibre itself is extremely durable, but the adhesive bond or stitching at the panel perimeter can separate with impact, reducing the panel's coverage area at that zone for subsequent events.
02
CE Armor Pocket Dimensions
CE protectors are manufactured to standard dimension ranges — but individual manufacturer's protectors vary in exact shape and thickness within those ranges. Before purchasing separate CE inserts, confirm the pocket interior dimensions (height × width × depth) with the Lane ProMotor™ seller, then verify your chosen insert's dimensions against them. A protector that is too thick for the pocket will not sit flat — it will bridge in the centre, reducing contact coverage at the edges and creating an uncomfortable pressure point at the bulge.
03
Cotton Fleece Washing
Cotton fleece washes well at low temperatures — cold or 30°C machine wash on a gentle cycle. High-temperature washing shrinks the cotton fibre, particularly at the riding-fit sleeve length and back panel height where precise dimensions affect armor pocket alignment. Shrinkage in these two dimensions shifts the elbow and back pockets toward the body and upward respectively, potentially misaligning the installed protectors. Wash cold and air dry or tumble dry on low — confirm the sleeve length and back length have not changed after the first wash by comparing against the pre-wash measurements from the size chart.
04
Mesh Lining and Aramid Panel Interface
The breathable mesh lining is sewn to the interior of the fleece shell. The aramid panels sit between the outer fleece layer and the mesh lining — the mesh faces the rider, the fleece faces the road, and the aramid is sandwiched between them. This layering means the mesh creates a comfort surface against the skin while the aramid operates at the impact zone between the road-facing fleece and the interior. Confirm this construction with the seller if you are uncertain — some hoodies position the aramid only in isolated panel zones rather than between continuous layers.
05
Elasticated Cuff Longevity
The elasticated cuffs seal the wrist interface between the sleeve end and the glove cuff. The elastic's function depends on its tension — a cuff that has lost its return elasticity no longer seals against wind ingress at the wrist. Elastic degrades through washing at high temperature, UV exposure, and repeated stretching over time. Wash cold, air dry or low-heat tumble, and do not store the hoodie with the cuffs stretched over objects — elastic stored under tension degrades faster than elastic stored in its natural contracted state.
06
Wind Resistance Scope at Speed
Cotton fleece's wind resistance is a function of weave density — heavier GSM fleece resists wind more effectively than lighter GSM at the same weave structure because thicker fibres leave smaller air channels between them. At urban riding speeds (up to 60km/h), 220 GSM fleece provides meaningful wind reduction. At highway speeds above 100km/h, wind pressure through cotton fleece increases significantly — a wind-resistant inner layer or base layer improves comfort. The wind-resistant claim applies across the speed range; the degree of resistance varies with speed.

  • CE armor is not included — aramid panels are: The aramid fibre reinforcement is present and functional from delivery. The CE armor pockets are empty — purchase compatible CE elbow, shoulder, and back protectors separately if you want foam impact absorption in addition to the aramid abrasion resistance. Confirm pocket interior dimensions with the seller before buying separate inserts.
  • Confirm the GSM before ordering: 220 GSM suits spring and autumn; 320 GSM suits winter. The specification lists a range — ask the seller to confirm the exact GSM for your order so you can match it to your riding season. A 320 GSM hoodie will be uncomfortably warm for summer urban riding above 20°C.
  • Size up if layering or between sizes: The riding-fit cut is designed for a thin base layer. One size up accommodates a thermal mid-layer without compressing the mesh lining against the body. If you are between sizes, go up — a tight mesh liner provides no breathable air gap, defeating its moisture management function.
  • Wash cold, air dry or low heat — check sleeve length after first wash: High-temperature washing shrinks cotton fleece at the sleeve and back panel — the two dimensions that govern armor pocket alignment in riding posture. Wash cold, gentle cycle. After the first wash, confirm the sleeve length against the size chart to verify no shrinkage has shifted the elbow pocket position.
Size Guide (Inches)

Riding-fit cut — sleeves and back panel are cut longer than a standard hoodie to maintain coverage in riding posture. If layering underneath or between sizes, choose one size up. Measurements may vary 1–2cm due to manufacturing tolerance.
